Spinal Stenosis

Spinal Stenosis Symptoms:

Spinal stenosis is a condition involving any type of narrowing of the spinal canal or nerve-root canals. The narrowing of the spinal canal results in compression of spinal nerves and nerve roots, causing a number of symptoms, including lower back pain, feelings of cramping or weakness in the back and lower extremity pain.

Causes:

The most common form of spinal stenosis is from degeneration of the spine leading to stenosis. Degenerative spinal stenosis effects virtually the entire adult population as a result of the natural process of aging, but this form of spinal stenosis does not always result in painful symptoms and a need for spinal stenosis pain management.

Testing:

Spinal stenosis is difficult for doctors to diagnose since the signs and symptoms are similar to many age-related conditions. Imaging tests like X-rays, MRIs and CT myelograms may be necessary for doctors to pinpoint the cause.

Spinal Stenosis Pain Management Treatment Options:

There are a number of spinal stenosis pain treatment options from your doctor that help with spinal stenosis pain management, which include:
